WELCOME TO AFYA YETU INITIATIVE

Afya yetu Initiative; founded in 2006 with the aim of championing, promoting and implementing community based Health Insurance Schemes’ (CBHIS) initiatives.

It is the predecessor to the international center for development and research (CIDR); a France based international NGO, implementing projects and programmes in 15 African countries. The overall goal is to bridge the health insurance gap experienced by the low income population in order that they have financial access to quality and equitable health care service.
Our target population is the farmers in the rural settings of the Nyeri, Kirinyaga and Murang’a counties and the low income population in the informal sector.

WHO WE ARE?

Afya Yetu Initiative (AYI)was founded with the aim of championing; promoting and implementing people owned and people driven initiatives that reduce risks facing the poor.

WHAT WE DO?

Through development research, training, awareness creation, sensitization, information and communication process, we enable low income communities establish self-managed health micro insurance schemes.
